was piloting the s-h grace. towards the port of sacramento and briefly ran aground in the sacramento river deep water ship channel. two days later, on august 29, 2009, kleess was piloting a ship on the san joaquin river to stockton. while docking the ship, it collided with a wooden pylon, damaging a cat walk. for these two instances, klees was ordered to take practice trips with an experienced pilot. and on may 26th of 20-10, kleess was supervising a trainee on a ship. the ship was tied to a tugboat en route to the richmond inner harbor. the tugboat made contact with the bottom of the channel. causing minor damage. pilot error was found, but no action was recommended the director of the board of pilot commissioners say, new regulations are in the works to regulate bar pilots. >> this will increase toxicology and increased the agility with physical ability and create a medical review regimen. these regulations grew out of the cosco bucson incident. the director is hopeful regulations will be enacted this year. >> the cosco busan tanker crashed into the bay bridge five years ago. spilling more th

a sacramento bar has been released from the hospital and booked into jail. 22-year-old carlito montoya got into an argument over a spilled drink and shot three people inside the bar, killing two of them. two others have been arrested in connection with the case. gunfire erupted as thousands of families were gathered nearby for a new year's eve fireworks show. >>> that new year's eve shooting has approximated sacramento mayor kevin johnson to propose a gun buyback program. some programs have already taken thousands of firearms off the streets. sacramento's police chief says he is looking into implementing such a program, but says anyone who has a gun and wanted to get rid of it can turn it into the department property's division. >>> two men arrested in connection with the deadly shootings of two teenaged girls in oakland are expected to enter pleas in court tomorrow tomorrow. the suspected gaeb, 1-year-old dyantay powell of oakland is charged with two counts of murder for the november 25th killings. 19-year-old antonio edwards is charged with being an accessory to murder. victims, 15-year-

the -- in sacramento has been released from jail. he is accused of injuring four others in a shootout like thousands of people were in old sacramento. montoya faces murder charges and is scheduled to appear in court on tuesday. sacramento's mayor is now proposing a gun buy back program. kevin johnson suggested the idea as officials talked about the response to the shooting. the mayor said giving people cash for guns will help keep weapons off the streets. similar efforts last month in san francisco resulted in hundreds of guns being handed over. >>> they stepped over security to try to stop a recurring problem. the breaks are a prime time for copper thieves to target the schools. the high school was stripped of its metal wiring. they have made an arrest in the case. school hired a security team to curb the problem and they are asking neighbors to keep an eye out for suspicious activity. >> east bay fire activities may be failing to meet the times. this is the only east bay fire department that meets four key benchmarks for protection. they include having four firefighters in each engine and truck an

this kind of deception doesn't happen again. in sacramento, nannette miranda, abc7 news. >> federal investigators now confirm chevron's own firefighters may have contributed to the richmond refinery fire in august. according to a draft report, firefighters were able to put out a flash fire caused by a small hydrocarbon won leak but they may have accidentally punctured a main pipeline, releasing a cloud of bigger flammable gas. pipeline appears to have been punctured from the outside and they are examining the firefighters' tools to determine if one of them did it. the fire sent toxic black smoke throughout the area and thousands of people sought medical treatment. chevron expects the damaged unit to be back on line in the next few months >> new this morning a woman in the sierra foothills east of sacramento is desperately trying to save a deer that got stuck in a bashed wire fence. melanie discovered a big buck with its antlers stuck in a blue tarp on her ten acre property. she made calls to try to get help for the animals but no agency has agreed to come. sheriff's deputies say the

to come up here in a second. 80 degrees for los angeles. san diego warming to 75. fresno at 64. sacramento 60ly degrees -- 63 degrees. for us here locally tomorrow, it looks like it will be a terrific day, sunny and mild. the temperatures near the bay in the midto upper 60s. maybe some 70s down toward santa cruz. and then on tuesday we will increase the clouds. a cooler day for wednesday with a chance for showers mainly in the authority bay. check out the highs. near 70 tomorrow to only the midto upper 50s by wednesday, thursday and friday. next saturday and sunday a pretty good chance that we are all going to see some showers. of course mike will be here 4:30 to 7:00 on the abc morning news with an update. >> thank you, leigh. into i it has been a good month for jessica chastain. >> she won a golden globe for "zero dark 30" and topped the thriller" mama." >> it is scary.
